The Artistic Journey
Then...
Jacob has been involved in the arts all his life. From drawing incessantly as a child to his time at Wexford High School for the Arts, OCADU, Henry’s camera, and all his artistic endeavours in between – art has always been a constant in his life. Even when he would try to distance himself from it, the love and desire was always there, so it would always find its way right back to him. He knew that creating was his true calling.
In the beginning, he spent most of his time in the fine arts, where he first fell in love with the creative process. He commonly worked with mediums such as graphite, ink, oil, and acrylic, before eventually transitioning into digital. It wasn’t until around the age of 16, when his older sister had lost all of her wedding footage to new creatives, that his family encouraged him to try his hand in the media field. They saw not only the demand and reward in it, but also a creative and artistic aspect to it.

The transition was difficult initially as technology began to play a significant role in his creative journey, which he wasn’t accustomed to. It didn’t feel quite right coming from a place where he was always putting traditional mediums such as pencil, ink, or paint to paper or canvas. However, slowly he found positives to focus on, and so he began to truly enjoy it. Although, it wasn’t until he ventured into the world of editing that he started to feel a real sense of familiarity. This involved working with creative softwares, drawing tablets, and other related tools to create a final piece. He loved being the storyteller, the creator, and the one evoking emotions from the audience. It was here that he felt nostalgia, passion, reward, and a sense of belonging.

...And now.
After nearly 15 years of experience in the field, he has developed fluent skills not only with cameras and related capturing tools, but also with softwares and relative tools, including Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, Inkscape, Gimp, Avid, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Logic Pro, and more. You name it - he’s probably fluent in it, or at least dabbled in it.
Often described as naturally extroverted, outgoing, bubbly, and empathetic, his personality has always enabled him to get along well with others and excel in customer service. With two dogs, close-knit family and friends, his goals extend beyond just growth as an artist, supporting loved ones doing what he loves. He also aims to pay it forward, and continue striving to be the best person he can be.
